Incoming – God’s Hope in Our Tedium

I had not unearthed the ugly depths of my “works-based” ways…
The endless, unfailing mercy of God defines each one of God’s children as sacred and beloved..
I think there is a poor trick we all play on ourselves internally when we mess something up…
I want to love and be loved because it sets me free.
That’s one thing I love about the Jesus Prayer: it’s true for everyone, all the time.
Sacrifice = the security of obedience to prescribed norms, standards, requirements. Mercy = the risk of disobeying in favor of love. We prefer the former. Jesus preferred the latter.
As she held my face I knelt down beside her and kissed her hands now moistened by my tears.
Our familiar language of Jesus as Savior seems to be growing cliché in many circles of wanderers.
Perhaps at the root of our longing is simply poor discernment of the needs of our own soul.
